What happens

The Whistler follows Roy Leighton, a broke man in Los Angeles facing eviction, who is approached by Linda McElvey. She offers him five thousand dollars to marry her before her twenty-fifth birthday, so she can inherit a large fortune from her late uncle's will. Roy agrees, and the couple moves into her apartment in the best part of town. Their marriage has been arranged only on paper, but as the weeks pass, Roy's feelings begin to shift. The story is told as a radio mystery in the Whistler series, which aired on November 26, 1950, and features Bill Foreman, Wally Mayer and Gene Spalding.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
