What happens
The Whistler follows Chris Claggitt, a police reporter who kills his friend Steve Robinson in the back room of a flower shop on the night before Easter. In the hours and days after, Chris struggles with guilt and strange shared dreams with his wife Kathy, as he tries to keep his secret and protect himself. The story is told in the program's narration style, with the investigation running alongside Chris's inner turmoil and his efforts to stay one step ahead of suspicion. Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
