What happens

Susan Hayes, an unsuccessful young actress, arrives at the Crenwood estate of an uncle she has never met, Lewis Denton, after receiving a letter inviting her to visit. Her cousin Hillary West and Denton's secretary Patricia Meadows seem unwelcoming. The next morning Denton is found dead from an overdose of sleeping tablets, and Susan's letter has disappeared. The Whistler series, first broadcast October 3, 1954, is a radio mystery program. The transcript ends before the case is resolved.

Listen for: The sheriff's questioning of Susan about her uncle's missing letter and Hillary's account of the will

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
