What happens
Carol Randolph, newly married to Ted Randolph, returns with him to his family's old house, where the memory of his first wife, Francis, seems to hang over everything. Strange remarks from the housekeeper Mrs. Carter and the maid Gillis make Carol uneasy, and an unexpected visit from Ted's brother Ben adds to her unease. Carol begins to doubt what she has been told about Francis's death and the reasons behind it. The episode is part of The Whistler mystery series and was broadcast on August 4, 1948.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
