What happens

Myra Cartwright, a rising Hollywood star, is haunted by the past when a newspaper reports that the Lady from the Sea cafe, once owned by director Craig Douglas, is to be dismantled and auctioned. Fifteen years earlier, Myra was Craig's lover, and his wife Norma Douglas was later found dead in the couple's apartment. Craig was convicted of manslaughter after the killing. Myra's anxiety grows as the auction approaches and the story centers on what might still be hidden from that night. This episode of The Whistler, a West Coast mystery series, is a 1948 broadcast from July 28.

Hollywood and the Los Angeles area, including Paradise Pier, a Hollywood apartment, a film studio and a courtroom, around 1933 and 1948.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
