What happens
Ernie Madden, newly released from prison, meets his old partner Joe Bennett and soon learns that Pop Wiley, a forger, has arranged for a forged Aaron Burr letter to be smuggled out in a suit. Ernie crosses paths with Louise Fenton, who is working with Pop Wiley, and they split a payment for the first letter. When Louise arranges a second sale, Ernie decides to intercept it, following Sid Nolan, a released inmate who is wearing the prison suit with the letter hidden in its shoulder padding. Ernie begins to suspect what the letter may be worth to the buyer, Mr. Slagel, and the story follows his attempts to get the letter. The series is The Whistler, and this episode first aired on 1955-04-28.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
