The Whistler series, broadcast on August 27, 1945, presents the story with the lead actors not named in the transcript.

A rainy evening in a town's bookshop on High Street, then a cheap hotel room, and later the outskirts house of Eugene Parker.

Characters: Henry Reichmann, Eugene Parker, Mr. Dover, Max, Floyd

Listen for: Henry's bargain with the gunmen, and his nervous visit to Eugene Parker's house.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
