What happens

Harold and Muriel Phillips rent an old house on Sycamore Road from Sabina Fielding. While they argue, Harold stops the old clock and discovers fifty thousand dollars hidden behind it. A visitor with a scar on his cheek appears at the door asking for Mrs. Fielding, and the couple begin to suspect the money belongs to her missing grandson, Richard Fielding. Their decisions over the following days set a dangerous course that ends with Harold facing the consequences of his choices. The Whistler series, first broadcast on October 15, 1945, is the program presenting the story.

A rented, old house on Sycamore Road and the town where Sabina Fielding moves afterward, in the 1940s.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
