What happens

Lieutenant Driscoll and attorney Grant Forbes meet on a city street and discuss Element X, the unforeseen event that undoes criminals. Soon after, Forbes is summoned to the waterfront cottage of Floyd Markham, a wealthy client, and finds him dead. Forbes then visits the widow, Lydia Markham, and her friend Ralph Leonard, who tries to pressure him over a witness who saw something that night. The Whistler series, first broadcast on February 13, 1955, presents the story as part of its anthology of crime tales.

A city with a downtown, a waterfront cottage, an apartment building and a warehouse district.

Characters: Grant Forbes, Lieutenant Driscoll, Floyd Markham, Lydia Markham, Ralph Leonard

Listen for: The unexpected event that Lieutenant Driscoll calls Element X, and how Grant Forbes reacts to it.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
