What happens

Detective Rock Adrian is called to an apartment where Lucille Doane has been beaten to death. Police keep quiet about the crime and set a watch at the apartment, hoping the killer will return. Oliver Gorse, shaken and unable to stop himself from walking back toward the scene, drifts through the city while his thoughts turn to Lucille and their quarrel. The Whistler narrates the story, drawing listeners into Oliver's guilt and the detectives' patient wait.

A not too lavish apartment and the city streets around it, at night, in wartime.

Characters: Rock Adrian, Oliver Gorse, Lucille Doane, Anderson, Henderson, Carner, Inspector

Listen for: Listen for Oliver's growing unease as he walks back toward Lucille's apartment, and for the detectives' plan to wait for the killer to return.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
