What happens

Comedian David Dane is one of the most popular performers in the theatre, and his wife Martha seems devoted to him, yet he has grown uneasy about his own state of mind. Martha watches him closely, dropping hints and steering conversations during the nights and days that follow. David is unsettled by his wife's behaviour and by a secretary's sudden resignation, and he begins to doubt himself. Martha keeps her own counsel as she stands by her husband. The episode is the Whistler, a mystery and suspense drama, from its original air date of 18 June 1945.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
