What happens
Jake and Trina Crowley, a young married couple, are nearly broke after Jake embezzled about $10,000 from the bank where he works as assistant manager. When Trina's cousin Charlie arrives for their wedding anniversary weekend carrying $10,000 in cash from a property sale, Jake's attention turns to the money. The couple begin planning ways to get it, first by breaking Charlie's glasses and tricking him into signing a note, and they discuss how to make his death look like suicide. Their plans keep failing, and the story moves toward a tense tea scene and a sudden turn of events. This episode of The Whistler first aired on June 11, 1945.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
