What happens
Attorney Joseph Herman is charged with defending Ruth Abbott, daughter of wealthy Randolph Abbott, who stands trial for her father's murder. The Whistler series episode Attorney for the Defense first aired on July 16, 1950. Herman, who once owed Randolph Abbott money, is cast as the defense attorney while Drake Douglas, Ruth's fiance, watches the case closely. The prosecution argues that Ruth had motive, both money and a quarrel over her wedding, and Herman works to show the jewel collection taken that night was valuable enough to suggest outside theft. The defense presses forward as the trial proceeds through its early testimony.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
