What happens
Tarzan and his companions, Darno and Uka among them, have been taken as slaves to the paddocks of the Torion war elephants while awaiting a fight with Mungo, chief of Queen Atea's guards. Tarzan has befriended the huge bull elephant Black Malook, and in the night the two slaves, Darno and Uka, ride him toward the city wall in an attempt to escape to Rator. The elephant is made to turn back, and the two men climb down the outer wall using a rope. Meanwhile Mungo reports to Atea, who discusses with Wang Tai how to deal with the elephant handlers who threaten her plans.
