What happens

Lorna Dean, a noted American singer, takes over a nightclub engagement in Buenos Aires after the previous singer, Jackie, dies. Johnny, a club-owner's associate who reports on ships entering and leaving the harbor, grows suspicious of the people around Lorna and of the club's new arrangements. Lorna is caught between her own ambitions and the pressure from those who run the club. Suspense is presented by Roma wines, and this episode of the series aired on November 9, 1944, starring Lena Horne.

Listen for: Johnny's suspicions about the people who want Lorna to sing a particular song at a particular time.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
