What happens

Dr. Dave O'Connor and his wife Myra live in a shabby flat, tied to the demanding old invalid Uncle Ed, who controls the fortune they are waiting to inherit. Worn down by years of humiliation and frustration, the couple begin to discuss an unthinkable solution. Their conversation turns from resentment to a dark plan involving the medicines Dave fetches from the drugstore, and the household's routine grows tense as the day progresses and Uncle Ed's lawyer is expected to arrive. The guide ends here, as the couple's plan is set in motion.

A dingy apartment in a poor neighborhood, where Uncle Ed lives in a wheelchair, with a nearby drugstore.

Characters: Dave O'Connor, Myra O'Connor, Uncle Ed, Mr. Eldridge, Mr. Herman

Listen for: Dave and Myra's growing desperation as they argue over Uncle Ed's money and their trapped lives.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
