What happens

Captain Richard Woolbridge and his wife Emily are among the few survivors after the brigantine Maid of Athens burns and sinks in heavy seas off the southern tip of South America. They reach a bare island where the surviving crew resents Emily, blaming her for the disaster as a woman aboard a ship. Her husband tries to keep the men working on repairs to the boat and plans a voyage to the mainland. Tensions rise as the crew's hostility toward Emily grows, and she grows increasingly frightened. The episode is the 1953 Suspense broadcast of Emily Woolridge's diary, presented with Agnes Morehead starring. The episode is broadcast on November 30, 1953.

Listen for: Lawson's conversations with Captain Woolridge and Emily, and Emily's exchanges with Hayward.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
