What happens

Terry Riley, a homicide detective, is hunting the White Rose Killer, who has strangled several young women near dance halls and left a white rose bud in each victim's hand. Terry's sweetheart, Jenny, a socially prominent young woman, becomes curious about the case and begins searching the city's dance halls and waterfront bars herself. Her search leads her to a suspicious stranger who seems to be following her, and to an unsettling encounter at a flower show. Suspense is the series, and this play aired on July 6, 1943, starring Maureen O'Hara in the lead role of Jenny.

A city with dance halls, dingy waterfront bars, a flower show, and the Virginia family's household.

Characters: Terry Riley, Jenny, Ginny, Edward, Sally, Joan

Listen for: The song playing at the dance halls and in the bars, and the small details that lead Jenny toward the killer.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
