What happens

Gigi Lewis, a Broadway chorus-line dancer, loses her handbag in a crowded New York subway station late at night, but a tall young man quickly returns it to her. When she opens the bag on the train, she finds a large roll of cash and a note directing her to get off at 161st Street and follow Yankee Doodle. Suspicious of everyone around her, she meets a frail elderly woman, then notices a whistling stranger and a pair of men following her as she walks through dark streets. Lucille Ball stars in this Suspense episode, broadcast on June 22, 1944, and the story is still unfolding when the transcript ends.

Listen for: Gigi's growing suspicion as strangers around her whistle, follow her and question her about the money

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
