What happens
Captain Zachary Payton, a former Confederate officer, nurses a grudge against Ben Rose, a fellow officer who once slapped him in front of the regiment. Payton's old friend Jim Stockwell tries to talk him out of a fresh confrontation, and Paul Gager and Quincy Talbot, also former officers, join the attempt. Payton insists the duel is unfinished and that he is owed a shot. The story is part of the Suspense series, first broadcast on December 2, 1954, with William Conrad starring as Payton and John Dehner as Rose.
A small Southern town in the years after the Civil War, when former Confederate officers are still living with the consequences of the conflict.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
