What happens

Gordon Saunders rents an isolated house in the northwestern country and meets his neighbour Dr. Eddley and Eddley's daughter Marilla. Strange events unsettle him: a woman in a red dress seen in the driveway, a rocking chair heard in the dark, and a screaming voice in the woods. Saunders grows drawn to Marilla, but she keeps him at a distance. Marilla's brief tale of a secret workroom and a peculiar glass room begins to unsettle him further. This is the Suspense episode The Second Door, first broadcast on May 6, 1962, with the story written by Robert Redick for the series.

An isolated house in the northwestern part of the country, with a long driveway, surrounding woods, and a clearing with a flat rock.

Characters: Gordon Saunders, Dr. Eddley, Marilla, Farmer

Listen for: The squeaking of the rocking chair in the dark, and the rising unease when Saunders begins to question what is real around the house.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
