What happens
Margot and Charles, a married couple, travel to a cabin on the Carolina coast that Margot's aunt Ida has offered them for a rest. Margot has long believed she receives messages from the dead, and her unease grows after they find an ivory planchette on the beach. Locals speak of a previous death at the cabin, and an old legend of Blackbeard's buried treasure lingers over the inlet. Margot begins to fear that something is pressing thoughts into her mind. The first part of the story ends with the couple's household and Margot's state of mind under strain. This is a radio drama from the Suspense series, first broadcast on April 29, 1962, starring Elaine Rost and John Thomas.
A deserted cabin on the Carolina coast, near Charleston, in the spring.
Characters: Margot, Charles, Jed, Simpson
Listen for: The sound of rowing and a scream in the night, and the ivory planchette found on the beach.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
