What happens
On Thanksgiving Day, young Margaret Leary hears a woman screaming from under a pile of dirt on Mr. Kelly's empty lot, near the concrete pipe the children called their fort. Her parents are busy with dinner and do not believe her, and her father forbids her to go out. Margaret goes back alone and recruits a friend, Dippy Smith, to dig. Their attempts to get help from the lot's owner and the police fail, and Margaret begins going door to door in the neighborhood to find out who is missing. The episode is part of the Suspense radio series, first broadcast on November 25, 1948, starring Margaret O'Brien.
A small town on Thanksgiving Day, including the Leary home, an empty lot sloping down to Monument Creek, and the neighborhood streets.

Listen for: Margaret's repeated, unheeded pleas that a woman is screaming under the dirt, and the family's Thanksgiving dinner conversation.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
