What happens

Sergeant Faring and his partner Driscoll investigate a series of brutal knife murders in a city gripped by fear. The first victim is a mother stabbed on East Bay, and the killings soon spread to other parts of town. Detectives work from a thin description given by a dying waitress and chase rumors while public panic grows. Their main suspect is Frederick Sorensen, a quiet lumberyard worker, and the investigation turns on a missing overcoat and a torn button. This presentation of Suspense, broadcast on January 11, 1954, stars Dana Andrews, and the story is based on fact.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
