What happens

Franklin Blake returns to England from the continent to act as executor of his late uncle Colonel John Herncastle's will. He is charged with delivering a valuable yellow diamond, the Moonstone, to his cousin Rachel on her birthday. Franklin collects the stone from the bank and travels to the Verinder house on the Yorkshire coast, where he falls in love with Rachel. On the birthday, the diamond is presented as a gift, and a visit from Indian jugglers unsettles the household. Later that night the Moonstone is found missing, and Franklin hurries to fetch the police.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
