What happens

Marjorie Gray, a worried young woman, boards the overnight train from Paris to the French Riviera to confront Alex Stevens, a lawyer she believes is pursuing a medium named George Ravel. Her aunt Hester has become devoted to Ravel's seances since the death of her husband Paul, and Stevens has come from London to expose him. Aboard the train, Marjorie meets Ken Blake, an American who knew the French police. At Monte Carlo, Ravel offers a demonstration in which Stevens challenges him to escape his bonds, and the seance that follows leaves Stevens dead. The story is presented as a Suspense episode from the Columbia series, broadcast on Tuesday nights, with Peter Lawry, Wendy Berry and George Zuko in the leading roles.

A train from Paris to the French Riviera before the war, and the villa of Aunt Hester above Monte Carlo.

Characters: Marjorie Gray, Alex Stevens, George Ravel, Ken Blake, Aunt Hester

Listen for: The moment of darkness during the seance, when the lights go out and Stevens is stabbed.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
