What happens
Mr. Cummings, a salesman stuck in a New Orleans hotel room during Mardi Gras, picks up a Gideon Bible to pass the time and is drawn into a night of danger. Visitors come and go from the neighboring rooms, and his belongings are searched while he is out. Soon a masked devil and a clown seize him on the street and demand the Bible, which he admits he took but cannot find. Stranded in a police station and then taken to an old French Quarter house, he tries to make sense of who these people are and what they want. Suspense, the radio drama series, first aired on November 25, 1956, and John Lund stars as Cummings.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
