What happens

Harry and Corinne Turner flee across the desert after Harry has been stealing from the bank where he worked, and their car breaks down near a remote hillside. They find shelter in the cabin of Pete Conley, an old prospector who tells them a legend of a Spanish galleon carried far inland by a great wave, buried in the sand with a treasure aboard. Corinne finds old Spanish doubloons in the cabin, which seems to support the tale. Harry, driven by the thought of gold and his own wish for a better life, decides to go looking for the ship despite Pete's warnings. The story is told in the first part of the episode of Suspense, the CBS anthology series, in an episode originally broadcast on August 26, 1962, written by Erwin Lewis.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
