What happens
Dr. Bronson, a cynical physician, tests his theory of the five checks that restrain people from murder. He recruits and tempts several men and women, including the clerk Totten, the thug Matt Doyle and the intern Judith Ainsley, to kill him for money, and each refuses for a different reason. The last of his subjects is Ladern, a man who cannot bear the sight of blood. This episode of the radio series Suspense first aired on July 27, 1943. Its starring actors are named in the introduction, and this retelling covers only the first part of the story.
Dr. Bronson's study and apartment in New York City, the hospital, and the city's streets.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
