What happens
Professor Leland Moffatt, a comparative psychologist in San Francisco, lives alone since his wife Janet went away. A census taker visits his house on Van Ness Avenue, and a week later he receives a letter from a Los Angeles realtor, Antony Kalotti, who wants him to verify a supposed discovery in animal behavior. Moffatt flies south, is collected at the airport and taken to Kalotti's house in Bel-Air, where he finds himself locked in a room and drawn into a strange, sinister trip with Pete and Sam Schwartz. The series is Suspense, first aired on July 5, 1945, and the play is presented by Roma Wines with George Coulouris as Moffatt.
San Francisco and Los Angeles, 1945
Characters: Professor Leland Moffatt, Antony Kalotti, Pete, Sam Schwartz, Janet
Listen for: The professor's careful, scientific reasoning as he tries to make sense of the locked door and Kalotti's odd plan.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
