What happens

Charles Markham, an antique dealer on Bond Street in London, is visited late one night by Judith Ray, a milliner who has a secret past. She has come to meet him, and her fiancé Ronald Gilbert soon arrives as well. Markham, who has been blackmailing them, demands money in exchange for silence, and the three of them argue in his back office amid the ticking of many clocks. The tension rises sharply as threats are made and the evening turns violent. The play stars Henry Daniel, with Joan Loring as Judith and Gavin Gordon as Ronald, and was broadcast on Suspense in 1945.

Listen for: The ticking clocks and the unexpected sounds from the grandfather clock in Markham's office.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
