What happens
Walter Bohmar, a plain and unremarkable toy company worker, is persuaded by his visiting cousin Eugene to rob a train carrying money from Reno, Nevada. Eugene proposes that they stop the train at a deserted junction and take the cash, promising Walter a share large enough to make his dreams come true. Walter agrees despite his doubts, and the two men plan the robbery carefully, down to the timing of each step. The episode is part of the Suspense radio series, first broadcast on April 13, 1953. Fred MacMurray stars as Walter, and the story is a dramatised robbery plot.
Oakland, California, and Reno, Nevada, with a train route between them
Characters: Walter Bohmar, Eugene, Beth
Listen for: Eugene's proposal to rob the Reno train and Walter's agreement to take part in the plan
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
