What happens

Public Defender follows Philip James Penn, a young man who is arrested for a burglary at Walter Calliman's store, where Penn once worked. Penn insists he was home asleep, but a key found in his coat and several identifications point to him, and he faces a charge of burglary. Attorney Mr. Tyler takes on his defense and begins questioning him about his whereabouts and his recent trip to St. Louis. The story is part of the Suspense radio series, with Frank Lovejoy starring; the original air date was April 20, 1953.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
