What happens

Dr. Pritchard, a physician, moves his family to a new house after a servant dies in a fire in the upstairs bedroom. His wife Mary falls ill, and her mother Mrs. Taylor arrives from Edinburgh to nurse her. Pritchard keeps buying tincture of aconine from the chemist, and the household's health grows steadily worse. This is a true story presented on the Suspense radio series, with Sir Cedric Hardwick in the lead, broadcast on October 6, 1952.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
