What happens

Warner Tope, a film photographer, and his crew document the aftermath of atomic bomb tests on the Pacific islands of Enewetak. On one trip to Island 27, Tope is left alone on the blasted, radioactive island when his companions Joe Harrison and Bert Picelli leave by boat to fetch food and film. Tope is stranded through a long, hot day and into the night, with his water, food and equipment in question. The episode is the Suspense radio drama of 1952-10-13, starring Richard Widmark, and it is a dramatization of a true account.

Island 27 in the Pacific atomic test area, following the bomb tests at Enewetak

Characters: Warner, Joe Harrison, Bert Picelli

Listen for: Warner's count of the hours alone on the island and his growing dread as the boat fails to return

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
