What happens

Ted Covington, a publisher's employee, reads a manuscript on poisoners and finds a picture of an 18th-century convicted poisoner, Marie Dubranich, who looks identical to his young wife, Mary. Strange events follow at the Covington home after the death of his uncle Miles. Godan Cross, the author of the manuscript, becomes involved, and Captain Brennan of the police investigates the death. The story is presented as part of the series Suspense, with Clifton Webb as the narrator.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
