What happens

Chief of Police Scott Anderson and his assistant Wally Shane arrest Lester Furman, a visitor to the town of Deerwood City, after a reward circular identifies him as a wanted murderer from Philadelphia. Furman is found dead in his jail cell, apparently a suicide, and the district attorney is unconvinced. Anderson begins to question the circular, Furman's background, and the circumstances of his death. Starring John Payne and Frank McHugh in the Suspense series, the broadcast aired on June 7, 1945.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
