What happens

Frank Townsend wakes after a fall on a snowy street in Hollywood, December 1944, with no memory of the past three years and no identification, his wallet stolen. He finds only the initials D.N. on his hat and cigar case. A grey-eyed man pursues him with a gun. Hiding in the subway and then returning to Tilbury Street, Townsend looks for the woman he once knew, Ruth, and learns the name Daniel Nearing and a newspaper account of a murder at the Dietrich estate in New Jericho. Cary Grant stars in this episode of Suspense, sponsored by Roma wines, broadcast on November 30, 1944.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
