What happens

Harry Mitchell, a young reporter for the Herald, visits the hospital room of Alan Pierce, a famous syndicated columnist who is recovering from a heart attack. Pierce had been building up to an exposé of the Argyle album, and Mitchell sets out to learn what it is. Soon Pierce is found dead, a scalpel in his chest, and Mitchell's search for the album leads him through a series of dangerous encounters in the city. The Suspense program featured Edmund O'Brien in the lead, broadcast on September 4, 1947.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
