What happens
Gus Green, a gag writer, has long depended on his partner Van Hauser, whom he resents. When Van announces he will marry dancer Julie Phelps, Gus grows jealous and begins to plan a situation of his own. He visits Julie, tells her that her former admirer Nick Edwards has threatened to kill Van, and urges her to meet him at his apartment. Michael O'Shea and Sidney Miller star in this Suspense play, broadcast on September 11, 1947, which is written and directed by William Spier. The story follows Gus as he tries to steer events toward his own advantage.
New York City, in the hotel where Gus and Van work, and in Julie's apartment on the West Side.
Characters: Gus Green, Van Hauser, Julie Phelps, Nick Edwards
Listen for: Gus's dictated gag scenes and the telephone calls that Gus and Van make.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
