What happens
Edward Mumery, a Hammersmith real estate broker, begins to suspect that something is wrong with his health and his household after a series of sudden stomach illnesses. He returns home from work to find his wife Ethel unwell, and he worries about the new cook, Mrs. Sutton, who came to the house without references. Meanwhile, newspapers and neighbours discuss the case of a woman accused of poisoning several people in Lincoln, which preys on Mumery's mind. The story unfolds in a quiet suburban setting where Mumery's ordinary routine is increasingly disrupted by fear and suspicion. This is an episode of the Suspense radio series, first broadcast on April 3, 1948, starring Sam Jaffe.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
