What happens
Detective Lieutenant Krovitch investigates the strangling of Mr. Ockham in a theatre cellar. At the scene he finds a bronze box holding the ventriloquist's dummy Rhea Buschinska, property of John Fabian. Fabian, his wife Alice and Bernard Douglas are all questioned while the puppet herself speaks and argues with them. The episode is part of the Suspense series, first broadcast on November 13, 1947, from a Ray Bradbury story and starring Joseph Kearns and Wally Mayer. The detective begins to uncover the history between Fabian and the figure he built.
A theatre cellar and later the police headquarters in a city, with the Fabian household and theatre life around it
Characters: Lieutenant Krovitch, John Fabian, Rhea Buschinska, Alice Fabian, Bernard Douglas, Mr. Ockham
Listen for: Fabian's ventriloquism and the puppet's voice, and Krovitch's questioning of the three suspects
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
