What happens

At the Artists and Writers Club, after dinner, a guest named Mr. Peters tells his companions about a hostess named Mrs. Kildare. Her New York studio is filled with guests for a supper party, and she is host to a circle of friends from varied backgrounds. Before the meal, she discovers that a valuable sapphire ring has gone missing from her bedroom. Mrs. Kildare suspects one of her guests and takes steps to recover the ring. The recording of this episode ends before the story is resolved, and the listeners are left to consider the situation.

A New York City studio apartment near Central Park West, and the Artists and Writers Club.

Characters: Mr. Peters, Mrs. Kildare, Mr. Harris, Maud Lyle, Enos Jackson, Mrs. Jackson, Stanley Cheever, Mrs. Cheever

Listen for: Mrs. Kildare's plan to recover the missing sapphire ring by blowing out the candles and counting to 100 in darkness.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
