What happens
Dr. Siddance and Lieutenant Jeffries lead an Earth expedition to a distant, apparently lifeless planet on the eve of its first landing. Warned of unusually intense radiation, the crew descends toward an island marked with geometric patterns and a strange green patch, and lands in a deserted city of tall, crude buildings. Jeffries and Dr. Siddance search the ruins and find a metal effigy of a creature with spindly legs and close-set eyes. Dr. Siddance explains what the scientists have deduced about the civilization that once lived there, and the ship prepares to leave the planet. The story is set in the near future and is drawn from the CBS radio series Suspense; the original air date is 1960-07-10, with Bill Mason and Les Damon among the cast.
A distant planet, its radioactive oceans and deserted city ruins, seen from an Earth expedition ship and later explored on foot.

Listen for: Dr. Siddance's explanation of what happened to the planet's former inhabitants, near the end.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
