What happens
A Navajo veteran named Corporal Four Thumbs, a former soldier who has escaped from a veterans hospital psychiatric ward, arrives at the Red Cloud trading post on the Navajo reservation. Former soldier and trader Captain Joseph Cotton, who served under him in France, decides to shelter him rather than turn him in. A state trooper, Arturo Trejo, arrives to search for the escaped man, and tensions rise among the Navajo gathered at the post. The story is set in the desert plateau of northern Arizona. This guide is based on the first part of the broadcast, which aired on August 2, 1959, as part of the Suspense series.
