What happens

Alex Martin and her husband Gerald have settled into Philomel Cottage in the English countryside, three weeks after their marriage. Alex, played by Lily Palmer, grows uneasy when Gerald's behaviour and a gardener's remarks stir her doubts about his past. Gerald's diary contains a cryptic note for six o'clock that evening, and Alex begins to suspect a dangerous secret. Suspense is the radio drama series, and this production was broadcast on 1946-12-26. Raymond E. Lewis plays Gerald. The account stops before the final revelations.

Characters: Alex Martin, Gerald, George, Dick

Listen for: Gerald's cryptic diary entry for six o'clock and the gardener's remarks about the house and the trip to London

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
