What happens

Rosie Jones, a veteran nightclub singer, is recruited by agent Ray Cram to join the rising star Terry Dane for a Las Vegas engagement. Rosie accepts the contract, but Cram warns her to keep clear of Terry, who is moody and shy. Terry takes an unsettling interest in her, and a troubling encounter in her bungalow leaves Rosie frightened. She goes to Cram, who urges her to stay quiet and avoid trouble, and the pressures around the act begin to mount. This episode of the Suspense series, first broadcast on February 1, 1954, stars Ethel Merman.

A nightclub on 52nd Street and a Las Vegas resort, with a hotel bungalow and the club stage.

Characters: Rosie Jones, Ray Cram, Terry Dane, Johnson, Earl, Benny

Listen for: Terry's conversations with Rosie and the tension in Cram's warnings about keeping away from him.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
