What happens

Brothers Frank and Brian Jackson, law students at Tulane, argue constantly about capital punishment and murder. To prove a point, they stage a fake murder on campus, with Frank playing the killer and Brian the victim, using blank bullets. The plan goes ahead in a crowded bookshop, and Frank is arrested and charged with murder. His father hires a lawyer, and Frank insists on telling the truth, but the testimony of witnesses and the prosecutor's questions make his story sound unbelievable. The Suspense episode aired on August 20, 1961, starring Phil Mieder and William Lipton, based on a story by Jules Archer.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
