What happens

Emily Carlisle, a mystery novelist, is hired to cover the murder of Dr. Winter for a newspaper syndicate. Dr. Winter was her doctor, and her stepdaughter Cora worked for him. A young woman named Clara Ogilvy has confessed to the crime, but Emily begins to doubt the evidence and investigates on her own, speaking with Lieutenant Hahn, a shopkeeper and a service station attendant. Emily has been suffering from blackouts since her husband Ned drowned, and she grows increasingly uneasy about what she is discovering at home. The episode is part of the Suspense series, and the lead actor is Gloria Swanson.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
