What happens
Tom Warner, a veteran paralyzed since his release from a Japanese prison camp, lives in a California veterans hospital. Recognizing a man at a flower shop window as Suki, the former camp guard who tormented him, Tom begins secretly regaining his strength. He plans to confront Suki, and his efforts lead to a tense night at the hospital. The suspense play is a dramatic production from the Suspense series, first broadcast on December 1, 1949, starring James Stewart.
A veterans hospital in California, shortly after the Second World War, with a nearby flower shop and a telephone booth in town.
Characters: Tom Warner, Suki, Janet, Miss Rhodes, Dr. Benson, Jackie, Bill Mason, Jimmy Cato
Listen for: Tom's secret code of blinking once for yes and twice for no, and the moment he recognizes the man in the flower shop window.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
